Dennis Hopper (1936 – 2010)
Dennis Hopper passed away today at the age of 74 from prostate cancer. Well known for his work in such films as Rebel Without a Cause, Apocalypse Now, Rumble Fish, Blue Velvet, River’s Edge, Hoosiers, Red Rock West, and True Romance, Hopper was also an accomplished director (Easy Rider, Colors), photographer (see below) and visual arts champion and collector, cultivating friendships with Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, Bruce Conner, and Jasper Johns. Hopper’s character Frank Booth in Blue Velvet wet his lips for Pabst Blue Ribbon.
